Fun times "The gods envy us. They envy us because we're mortal, because any moment may be our last. Everything is more beautiful because we're doomed. You will never be lovelier than you are now. We will never be here again." - Achilles, Troy

Attack on Cipya Manor

It was a cold, dark hour in the district of West Ardougne. A light dew began to settle as the early dawn approached, leaving a dense fog raised above the ground. A lone figure garbed in dark robes and hooded began shifting his way through the fog, only visible by the faint crimson glow of a wand dangling from his belt.

A manor, mostly dilapidated, remained ahead of him. It was a dark grey stone with chunks of rubble fallen off and various bricks missing. Most of the dilapidation had been crudely patched with woodwork. Shadows of the sheer size of the building casted a pall over the front of the home, further masking the arrival of this individual. Guards looked on warily, unsure whether the man had been an ordinary denizen, for the people of West Ardougne were familiar with the cloaked and mysterious.

The man approached and stepped towards the door, leaving a hand at his side to grasp the handle of his wand and pluck it from his belt. The movement was hidden by the cover of his dark brown cloak and the faint crimson glow emitted from the device seemed to damper. As the man raised his gloved free hand, his knuckles rapped four times along the right side of the double door entrance to the home, the sound echoing faintly on the inside. The hood rose just gently as his request was answered. A frail man answered in black servant attire, clearly a steward of sorts.

They exchanged words briefly before the servant's eyebrows rose with his eyes, widening at his new guest. The old servant backed away from the door slowly, followed by our mysterious figure stepping inside. To the outsider guards and townsfolk, they may have paid no mind to what was a harmless exchange, though the next several moments were too eerie to ignore.

From the inside of the manor, bright flashes of crimson and violet lights occasionally reflected along the many windows of the home, followed by the quickly silenced spurts of shouting and two feminine shrieks. The guards were now cautiously making way for the manor, dashing past the outer fenceline where the Cipya family crest had been placed for ages passed. Once they arrived in the small courtyard, the shrieking and commotion from inside ceased. The only sound were the nearby townsfolk stirring awake at the disturbance and edging closer to the scene as the alerted guards approached.

One such captain led a small troop of guards, rushing past the others as he stepped towards the door. Unsheathing a steel blade, the captain kicked the center of the double doors, gaining entry with haste.

The stench of death rippled through the home as the swamp green residue of dark magic creeped throughout the downstairs parlor. Upon entry, the guards were met by the frail servant who some had just seen before, slumped against a nearby desk with scorched chest. Littered in the halls ahead were two women in black and white dresses- maids of the household. A set of stairs starting from the parlor and arching upwards could be seen from the parlor as well. The guard captain covered the bridge of his nose and followed them up.

One of the guardsman stopped as they made their ascent, recognizing the youthful face of young Abilene Cipya, a girl of eight. The innocent expression left on her features indicated she would have gone quickly. Once they made a further ascent up the stairs, they would find the others in the study- guarded by the head of the house, Eureon. An old, though sturdy individual, he was recognized as the head of the house following the death of Aldaren and the disappearance of other members. In that time since then, he began populating a branch of his own which now seemed to be plucked from the tree. Surrounding Eureon were his son's, the eldest daughter, and his last wife. All was still and silent at the manor. .„¸¸,.·` |

To His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Axel Vekon of Kandarin,

The Abbey of St. Edward Aren-Grey extends a loving hand towards Kandarin and its Saradominist flock. Kandarin has for centuries held a loyal congregation of Saradominist peoples, and it is with great honor, humility and pleasure that we announce our intent to travel to your lands so that we may preach His word to your people and assist those in need of spiritual or mortal aid. Furthermore if it pleases His Imperial Majesty, I would like to request a personal audience with you so that we may discuss how best to distribute His ministry and our resources to your great peoples.

Faithfully,

Jordan Whittaker, Head Abbess, The Abbey of St. Edward Aren-Grey

State of the Abbey of St. Edwards in the Holy Kandar Empire

Pentember 25th

The Abbey of St. Edwards has recently been given permission and funding from the Emperor of Kandarin, Axel Vekon, to begin the construction of various monasteries and other places of worship throughout Kandarin. These monasteries are to distribute religious and worldly services and goods, respectively, to the needy in Kandarin.

While the great buildings of stone are under construction, religious services are held once a week for the townsfolk of Ardougne, Khazard, Yanille, Seers' Village, and Camelot. Confession is offered, and the Abbey prays for the good health and salvation of the Emperor and his family. Additionally, each monastery comes complete with its own farm, winery and brewery, which allows them to feed, clothe and provide for the needy of Kandarin. Excess goods are sold off to the locals and nobility, with the profits being split between the locals, taxes to the Emperor, and the Abbey.
All that for a pile of bricks.
