The Middle Kingdom was alight in the flames of war and chaos. Bands of marauders and rebels roamed the countryside, pillaging, raiding, and occupying towns and villages all along the countryside. Among them are many factions with more ambitious interests.

The capital is occupied by rebels, emergent Dwarves, and White Knights. Merchants have seized lands of their own. The Imperial Remnant holds on to pockets of the Kingdom. Kinshra yet loom in the north, soon to spring their plans.

However, even they are not alone. Yet more factions hold onto other parts of nation. Yet more are now rising to join the fray, taking advantage of the chaos and uncertainty. No one knows for sure who will do what. The knives are out and the blood will flow.

The fate of Asgarnia hangs in the balance, and it’s fate shall be decided by the heroes and villains who choose to fight for it.

The country burns, but Asgarnia is not yet lost.

The Factions

Donblas
Faction Chef: GreytBritain

The Donblas are a royalist group lead by King Varis the Fourth, a claimant to House Grey. Fighting for the restoration of the “Old Kingdom”, they aim to gain enough influence to call “The Assembly” and heal the fractured nature of Asgarnia through the old feudal system, with the powers of the assembly greatly enhanced.

Kinshra
Faction Chef: Har Sicarius

The Kinshra are a Zamorakian Knight Order based in northern Asgarnia, fighting for an age-old claim to the throne of Asgarnia. Under the Baron and the council of Lords, this small but militant faction possesses strong alliances and a strong army.

4th Legion
Faction Chef: Myles

The bastard child of the Kandarin Legions, the 4th is untested and unbloodied in combat. Forced to retreat into the Asgarnia wilderness, the Legion is now cut off and far behind enemy lines with a harsh winter setting in. Commanded by a small group of seasoned officers, the 4th's sole mission is to survive.

Red Stripe
Faction Chef: NPC

The Red Stripe Trading Company is a minor faction located in Port Sarim. Through treaties made in the recent chaos, the Company owns a significant section of the port and shall defend it with highly trained mercenaries and a strong naval presence.

Goblins
Faction Chef: Ian

The bitter remnants of the Chosen Battalion. Years of bitterness finally forced them to organize, and seek to become something new of their very own. They have almost no allies and are willing to lash out at anybody or anything. Despite hostile nature, they are willing to trade and form alliances with humans, none have come forward for that though.

The Factions Cont.

House Aren
Faction Chef: Ovi

An old house of great mages that have been in Asgarnian politics since their dark wizards tower had been built in before the fifth age. These old natives are among the oldest, nay, are the oldest ally of the Grey house, having intermingled a great and incredible bit in the past. One should not underestimate the Aren house for their members very magical, and near zamorakian ways.

White Knights
Faction Chef: Adventurerr

The White Knights are a Saradominist Knight Order based in the Capital City of Asgarnia, Falador. Being the military of the kingdom, and after the death of the former king, the Knights are fighting in attempt to keep order in Falador, and hopefully the kingdom.

Stonehammer Clan
Faction Chef: NPC

The Stonehammer Clan are an aggressive splinter group of dwarves who seek to seize the opportunities in a broken Asgarnia. Primarily concerned with their wealth, they hold few real loyalties to any real ideal. They have a distinct advantage in the superiority of their technology and craftsmanship.

Da Rules

The Time of War is based around a cooperative storytelling ideal, meaning OOC communication is paramount, and the storyline should be interesting and enjoyable. Instead of an outright set of rules, we’ll list out the core ideas of the story to be held up.

Supremacy Clause: This is the general idea that this story isn’t about any one faction dominating the campaign map. Ideally, there will be an ebb and flow. If one faction starts to dominate, the others are more likely to group up against it until a balance is achieved. This rule will last at least through the early-to-mid-game of the campaign.

Chivalry Is Not Dead: Though a time of great strife, the rules of chivalry will also make it a time of great honor. The rules of chivalry require that nobles are captured in battle and ransomed, rather than outright killed. People are also expected to act in good faith and subscribe to honorable behavior. People are free to act dishonorably, but the record will be reflected upon themselves and their associated faction.

Everyone Gets One: This ideal protects “Bastions” that cannot fall to be conquered, at least early on and not without a great discussion. This protects places like the Kinshra Fortress, and White Knight Castle from being outright conquered, but we can formulate story around what might be necessary at the time. Every faction can declare one “Bastion” that they can have protected. This rule will last at least through the early-to-mid-game of the campaign.

Kumbaya: The final ideal is that at the end of everything, everyone participating clearly has an interest in remaining in Asgarnia to Roleplay. The final conclusion, though adaptable, should provide a way that all parties interested can remain part of the Asgarnian RP group. The final accommodations made should reflect this at the end of this campaign.

One Week One Turn: Every IRL week, each faction can attempt to take one tile in whatever fashion they choose, be it war or diplomacy.

Post Script

This RP is meant to add a new level of dynamic engagement into RP. The basis of the idea is that this is not a singular RP group or vision, but a cooperative effort on the part of whomever is interested.

Here, instead of the typical POK, we decided to go with an entirely new form of group RP. The concept is to encourage a wide degree of latitude for people to create the story they want to see, with people playing characters in multiple factions and hopping around as their interest suits them.

Frankly, as well, the old "My great and peaceful, wealthy, Kingdom where everything goes how I want." Has been Done. To. Death. in RSRP. Thought this would be a refreshing change for those interested.

Of course, due to the nature of things there may be some contention from others outside this roleplay. That’s fine, and they are free to continue to do what they wish to do, I, for one, intend to simply let them be without paying it any mind. I encourage others to do the same.
