In the earliest of days, in a time when the world was still raw, Sheogorath decided to walk amongst the mortals. He donned his guise of Gentleman With a Cane, and moved from place to place without being recognized. After eleven days and eleven nights, Sheogorath decided that life among mortals was even more boring than his otherworldly existence.

"What can I do to make their lives more interesting?" he said to himself. At that same moment, a young woman nearby commented wistfully to herself, "The sounds of the birds are so beautiful."

Sheogorath silently agreed with her. Mortals could not make the beautiful and inspired calls of birds. Their voices were wretched and mundane. He could not change the nature of mortals, for that was the purview of other Daedric Princes. However, he could give them tools to make beautiful sounds.

Sheogorath took hold of the petulant woman and ripped her asunder. From her tendons he made lutes. From her skull and arm bones he made a drum. From her bones he made flutes. He presented these gifts to the mortals, and thus Music was born.

The Scarcity Method

This proposed method of currency makes gold and silver's rarity increase. Due to this scarcity, they become much more valuable in Roleplay, and civilian RP may have more bartering trades (EG, : 1 cow for 4 sheep), enhancing the roleplaying atmosphere.

1gold = 26 silver = 22,000 copper (rounded)

Feeding a single man for a year would cost about 1.5 oz of silver. Meaning it would take about 1275 oz of copper a year, or 3.5 oz a day, which agrees with the cheapness of food and ales in tavern RP's.

This system also makes it simpler to convert present-day values to RP values. Just take a middle or lower-class household's yearly grocery bill and make it equal to 1.5 oz of silver. Now, at least, it should be easier if getting a rough idea of getting what a good price for an item should be.

As for different mints, when acquiring foreign money, different nations would have the coins melted down and remade to their own mints, meaning that Faladian money would hardly ever been seen in, say, the Lum treasury. However, since the most important factor of the coin is the weight, store keepers and merchants can be equipped with small scales, to have the mass of the coins in exchange for their services.

Old system from W41 that was pretty G. Thought it was worth a mention.
