From the first days of their founding, the kingdoms of mortals have been beset by threats, be they civil unrest, or invading armies. One such threat that has persisted throughout the eons is that of the inhuman, those beasts that roam the countryside and threaten not only the individuals upon which they feast, but the very structure of civilization itself. The people of Gielinor are not defenseless, though, for they rely upon those individuals who dedicate themselves to the art of hunting and fighting the encroaching darkness of the wild. Slayers.


Howdy! Welcome to the Slayer's Guild, a roleplay dedicated to the capture, killing, and study of RuneScape's many monstrous denizens! The goal of this roleplay is to engage characters in a healthy dose of monster hunting intertwined with typical "academy style" training and of course, develop them via interesting personal storylines. Currently, the roleplay is centered in Burthorpe, but as characters go out on hunts, expeditions, and bounties with their comrades or even by their lonesome, they may find themselves in all manners of places. Tbh, that's all I really have to say about this. So just like, gimme a page of reserves. Thank you~

While all Slayers are trained in the same core techniques and knowledge, most specialize into one of three circles that give them a unique niche in their party. These orders frequently work together, and while it may be difficult to entirely realign one's career once already down the road, slayers have been known to hop from one to another.

The First Circle
The First Circle concerns itself with the many potions, ointments, and concoctions used by slayers. Often dubbed alchemists, they are masters of herblore and are often tasked with producing anti-fire potions, or wolfsbane oil to aid their allies. Members of the First Circle are also apt at finding herbs to create medicines, and are more often than not trained secondarily as medics.

The Second Circle
The Second Circle is known as the Banesmiths, and is the smallest of the circles. Attuning bane ore to different creatures is an immense task, and shaping the metal is perhaps even harder. Many slayer weapons are made from the hands of Banesmiths, who also specialize in crafting things such as leaf bladed weaponry and other apparel that is particular to the needs of a slayer.

The Third Circle
Scholars and researchers make up the Third Circle. Slayers are often concerned with killing creatures, but the Third Circle also has the secondary task of observing them as well. To learn from them, and to understand them not just as targets, but as living beings in the ecosystem. The Third Circle maintains the archive of beasts, and looks for means of coexistence. The Slayer's Guild has a heierarchal system of promotion that determines one's capacities within the the guild's structure. As one rises through the ranks, they will find themselves challenged with trials to progressively prove their worth.

Initiate
New inductees. Almost entirely relegated to the classroom with any slaying being demonstrations in a controlled environment. Mostly children or teenagers.

Novice
Novice slayers are those who are no longer entirely restricted to the classroom, and instead are occasionally brought to the field in groups under the supervision of a full Slayer and their apprentice. Novices are also sometimes sent out on their own, but usually only in groups or - if alone - on very simple tasks.

Apprentice
Apprentices are allowed to take low level slaying tasks so long as they are accompanied by their master. Will usually still have to attend classes, but towards the end of an apprenticeship most work will be field work.

Slayer
Someone who has graduated their apprenticeship at the behest of their master. Slayers may continue on in the world without supervision. A Slayer at this level may begin to take apprentices.

Senior Slayer
A Slayer may wish to continue direct work for the guild. After time and trials they may become a Senior Slayer, and earn the right to take apprentices.

Slayer Master
Slayer Masters are nominated for their position by a council of Seniors, and voted upon. They must complete an incredibly difficult trial, but after doing so earn the title of Slayer Master, and the right to assign tasks. A Slayer Master is also eligible to be elected as head of one of the Circles. The King of Egypt herself.

~+ Contract Types +~

Level 1 - These contracts are often referred to as "pest control". Giant rats, giant spiders, and other small nuisances that really don't require anything more than a supervised initiate to complete. Pay for these contracts is often labeled as "exposure", often amounting to a warm meal or pocket change.

Level 2 - Contracts that take on more serious matters, like wolves or other potentially dangerous predators. Level 2 contracts are usually dangerous enough that an initiate will not be allowed to take one, but a novice might if they are in a group or otherwise accompanied by a fully trained Slayer. At this point, creatures are still considered "non-magical".

Level 3 - These contracts finally partake in creatures that are magical in nature, or require specialized slayer equipment to handle. Only a Slayers and their Apprentices, or anyone of a higher rank, may accept these contracts. Typical creatures include Cockatrices, Mogres, Gelatinous Abominations, and others.

Level 4 - A contract of the fourth tier involves monsters that may pose a serious threat to civilization, such as a dragon or demon. Slayers typically do not bring their Apprentices on such missions unless their junior is close to graduation. These contracts are few and far between, but the reward is usually quite substantial.

Level 5 - These are extremely dangerous contracts, in which a threat exceeds the capabilities of any one Slayer. Though thankfully such threats are hardly ever seen, sometimes even for generations, a monster worthy of a level 5 contract is bound to bring catastrophe if unchecked.

Level 6 - The only Level 6 Contract ever to have been issued was against Tuska. Hopefully, there will never be another one issued ever again. The King of Egypt herself.
