Facial Appearance: Bright, wavy hair curtains prominent cheekbones and ever-narrowed grey-green eyes. His is a regal face: his brow is thick and moody, his jaw carved as if from granite. His nose slopes as elegantly as the hook of an eagle's beak. He wears his beard long, trimmed, and, in more formal situations, waxed.
Weapons & Combat: His sidesword, though thicker and stouter than a typical rapier, affords him similar speed and elegance in the hand. The steel in its hilt has greyed with age, but Tybarus keeps its blade to an immaculate polish.
Personality: Flamboyant in dress but simple in words and deeds. Slow to act yet swift to hold grudges. He drinks, smokes, whores, and gambles in equal measures (which is to say: never in excess). He carries himself with
sprezzatura
, a social grace of rare quality, seldom seen even in kings and emperors. Yet he only seems to care about two things in this world, and once the Nightwinter estate runs dry of these things, he'll vanish as swiftly as he came.
History: As he would have it, before the Nightwinters' took him on as a retainer Tybarus was a Dougnish mercenary. He campaigned with Ardougne (though he won't say which side he supported in the civil war), White Knight inquisitors, and even the crusades of the deep south. So esteemed are the members of his "forlorn hope," the swordsmen placed in the frontlines for double pay, that many of the troops, including Tybarus himself, have been offered knighthoods and other positions in the courts of important noblemen worldwide. But sellswords are a sickly people, ever ailed with wanderlust; and so Tybarus has rebuffed every one.
Some of these are bold-faced lies, of course. But as long as he continues doing decent work for honest pay, no one will be the wiser.
