Many years ago, around 2009-2011, I was a member of this wonderful World 42 role-playing community. Some old heads might remember me as “Van Roich.” I roleplayed with the best of them, including people and groups such as 1tk1 and his (Magia Caedo roleplay), Ptolemy Dean, Tibby, among others.
Back then, as some here have recently pointed out, World 42 was a very different place. In addition to the “kingdom”-type RP groups that I see still exist, you had freelance roleplayers and deep, episodic, story-driven roleplays that loosely followed an epic, player-created Gielinor subplot. That last one was always my cup of tea. I’ve always been interested in creating high fantasy storylines, and RuneScape was always one of those games that offered the flexibility to do so and be able to truly flesh it out for those who participated.
I’d like to create one of these story-driven roleplays on W42, open to all who would join it. My commitments in the last 10 years have fluctuated drastically, but I’m finally finished with my degrees and now have a little time to devote to this game, which I’ve always loved.
However, before I embark on doing something like this, I want to gauge demand for it. There doesn’t have to be a huge response; I’ve participated in story RPs with less than 10 people. As long as those willing to join are interested in keeping up with and contributing to a good story, then that’s all we need. Also, with the amount of content released in the last 10 years, we have enough material to make something truly special.
