Listen to Runescape Reorchestrated's "Born to Do This" Cover, for effect.
The Heroes rallied together. Making landfall at the Charming Moths site from Daemonheim, they walked to the lava pools without worry. There, they meet Fuinir Rothinzul, a mercenary working on his Hero's Guild task. Not offered long to speak past introductions, the lava's bubbling soon revealed itself to be a steel dragon, bathing in the lava to try and melt the steel off of it's body.
The Dragon attacked, and in the process broke Thalia's neck. A sign of life later saved her, but the sheer force of it's flame was too much for her simple, Anti-Dragon shield.
When the Dragon was grounded and gutted by all the members working together, Thalia moved to the ruins with her team, finding it hard to walk as her adrenaline wore down.
Shinori and Nova quickly got to work reinforcing the campsite, while Crast and Wendy prepared a medical bay, and William and Fuinir, later joined by Shinori, went hunting.
In the coming days, the following tangent stories are possible, then more.
- The Inventive Tale of a Chaos Dwarf (Nova seeks to raid the local Chaos Dwarven camp for supplies, that will come in handy should an attack prove nessacry.)
- Two Blades of Blue (Thalia makes a pilgrimage to the Sword of Edicts, to learn more of her magical skills)
- The Revenant Hunters (A hunter enters camp, searching for Revenants. He tells a tale of a roving band of Revenant Huntsmen, with a vengeance for the living.)
Once these three are done, the poking around Vulcan's Lament can begin.
If anyone has any other casual, camp roleplays they want to do, feel free to!
The Sword of Edicts proved a fruitful journey. Bumping into her mom, Thalia got the group powerful portents and healing supplies. At the cost of fighting off a Demon warband.
The Revenant Hunter showed up to camp, though was killed soon after by the Hunters. Fuinur considers it a personal goal to handle this, for reasons unknown to the rest of the group.
Thalia brought back Unicorn and Mushroom stew, which was served to the camp for dinner. The hunts continue, as the Dwarven Camp sits in wait.
All camp oriented roleplay is now taking place in the Mage Arena, in the deep wilderness.
After investigating Vulcan's lament, it was discovered a Divine Energy weapon had destroyed most of the city. Some Rubies from the wreckage further showed such. Not much survived, minus Worshipper Obsidian Arrowheads. It was clear the site was abandoned for some time.
When a Zombie walked into Camp, Thalia made the executive decision to move, before more could arrive. Camp was packed, as Shinori, Crast, Nova, and Thalia took point, with Wendy, Fuinir, and William asked to protect the rear.
On the way to the Arena, a Wildywyrm struck the group. Quick thinking from Nova to use a blood spell made it vulnerable enough for Thalia to stab it through the eye, with Crast and Shinori distracting it.
Thalia and Nova, both disgusted by things Shinori said and did, remained silent, with Thalia comforting her magically, and emotionally, drained wife.
A few storylines are available.
- The Divine Storm (Any character who is a competant mage can do this, and look to learn Divine Storm, alongside Claws of Guthix, Saradomin Strike, or Flames of Zamorak.)
- Teleport Trouble (Shinori was cursed with a permanent Teleport Block. Can the crazed old Mage help her?)
- Revenant Ravings (Revenants near camp seem to suggest the Revenant hunt is on the move.)
Revenant Ravings: Fuinir, Thalia, and Shinori set out to fight the Returned Hunt, a band of Revenants suspiciously hunting together. working through their ruin camp, a Demon was heard speaking with their leader, the Lich Vascora Marcato. The Demon left before our heroes could spot it up close, maybe for the best, as the Lich turned out to be powerful, requiring some heavy duty attacks to shake it. After using the Arrenda Primal scream, however, the Lich was weakened, and easily beaten by the trio.
A Revenant was summoned by the Phylactery, a King, desiring single combat with Fuinir. After an honour duel between a Revenant and a Former one, Fuinir had the rights to the crown of Charles of Burthor, his sword, most effective in the hands of a Revenant, and his own quest goal of a Lich's (shattered) Phylactery.
Campground Drama: Thalia told Shinori how she feels, that this friendship of Shinori having feelings for her couldn't really continue as is. This soon was underplayed, followed by
The Queen of Nightmares
getting inside the three in camp, Thalia, Shinori, and Fuinir's heads, causing problems.
The quick actions of Chryselle des Teuffels, an acquantance of Thalia's, saved Shinori's life and Fuinir's insanity.
Did Thalia make a deal with the Queen of Nightmares? Because the Queen has claimed as much to Shinori. But are demons above lying?
Bark at the Moon: A Group of Vigilii Demons, escorted by two Gryllizio attacked Thalia and Rexotic Silversmith outside camp, while discussing an unknown topic troubling Thalia.
Fighting in the night, Crast and Brimstone joined the group, dispatchiing the eight demons and fleeing back to the arena. Thalia identified them as Typhoeic, tied to the Sixth Legion, and thus, the Queen of Nightmares. Thing will only be more dangerous from here out.
Especially as a Drow is sent hot on Thalia's tail.
In case I am not up for the farewell rp tomorrow, the team would receive an enchanted axe and an antifire potion from Shinoti as a parting gift.
"I am true divinity! I am the father of nations and peoples! I am the thing you merely pretend to be! I am God, and I am King, and you can never defeat me!" ~Galath, Infinity Blade
I felt something today. Power, unmatched by anything else I have come into contact with. However, the pain that came with it was hardly worth it. I felt every vein in my arm tear open while my life began to drain away. I felt someone else pressing on the back of my mind.
Every time I screwed over someone, every loss I ever had to live through, every painful moment small or large, it all hit me at once. It flowed through my mind as my blood and my very anima flowed out into the spell.
Heartwrencher
has a mind of its own, and I don't ever want to use that wand again. I struggled to maintain my humor as I felt my world go black, it was all I could do to maintain my sanity.
Even in unconsciousness I didn't escape the feeling it left me. I heard voices in my head, I watched battle after battle of the God Wars play out in my head as if I was really there. Thoughts that weren't my own danced across my unconscious mind. Suddenly
William
was waking me up, and all that immense displeasure the wand had caused left me in a rush. It was like the worst hangover ever imagined.
Now, I am afraid. I still hear the
voices
in my head of what I can only presume is my ancestor who owned the wand before I did. His thoughts are still crossing my mind, and I feel my corruption grow stronger. I hope that my sanity is not compromised in the long term, and it won't lead to any distractions as we move on to our next base.
After a confrontation with the local Pirates, our Heroes managed to get a ship to sail Eastbound. Fear of Demonic Anglerfolk horrified the pirates, and this fear was well-reserved.
Crossing through the night, the ship encountered the dull lights of Angler folk, and had to defend the ship. After speaking with one, cured of demonic taint and revealed to be a Shark person, a horrifying Chthonian emerged from the water, attacking the ship on all sides.
Our Heroes held on but briefly, and the crew was entirely destroyed. The damaged ship sailed straight for the Rogue's Castle, landing on some sandy shoreline. The Heroes are now recovering from the encounter, in the damaged hull of the ship.
A letter sent to Felix Nocte, posted here for its relevance to the Visions plot.
Felix,
I've been doing a lot of thinking lately, about who I am and what role is on this planet. My brush with death on that ship gave me pause: what if that had been it? What if I'd teleported back to my house, and my heart had given out, and no one was there to restart it? Am I happy with my life, is my legacy complete? My whole life has been so dedicated trying to get out of the shadow of my family that I've forgotten what's important.
Helping people.
If my life had ended that day, so what? I've saved lives, reunited families, stopped drug dealers, and stood up to bullies. I've done a damn fine job and I don't think it's too cocky to say that. My work on the mainland has reached a peak, and I'm going to need to broaden my horizons if I'm to work this puzzle out.
The reason I'm writing you this is to tell you I'm headed East to finish the fight. I'll be around for a few more days before I go, so feel free to stop by if you get the chance. I would love if you could take care of Nak and Aky (my cat) while I'm gone. Darius forgets to feed them sometimes. Hopefully Aky won't harass your dogs too much. I'll be back when I can, unless of course I die. But who cares. So what if death is a possibility? Death has been a possibility in everything I've done. I'll get over it.
Her Majesty, Vasilisa'Ad'Somnum, the Queen of Nightmares rose to speak.
''We mourn no death today. Brutus was a traitor to our cause, who deserved the fate he earned. Centurions, step forth.'' A total of Six Centurions step forward.
''You have your place that we agreed upon. Meet me there, should the worst come.''
They walked through a fresh portal to the Abyss, taking a few of Paidi's Parasitic Demons with them.
''Yeligubolus, my Third-Born. Protect the Cache. Hold them back. Take a minimal force.''
The Demon, in a less-than humanoid shape of Legatus Maximus armour, teleported.
''Culigalus, my Second-Born. You will now serve as my Praetor.'' The Demon bowed, sharpening claws in excitement.
''Cassia, my eldest... The Apple of my Eye. Go with the Centurions. Recover. You are my legacy.''
''...Finally, Vengra, the Fury.'' Paidi settled on her Avernic's eyes with a scowl. "Recall all forces, barring the Human Legionaires detached. Their mission is more important. No, bring me the Sinners. Bring me the Foulwaters. Bring me your personal Army. Bring me those rogues, who so cowardly ran from battle. I want every human coward converted into a strong, Demonic soldier. I want the ones who will fight, to fight to their last. War has come. Brutus may yet have the last laugh, if we are not prepared.''
The Queen rose, her Daemonheim stalkers following her as she left. They floated, trailing the 25 foot tall Chthonian Duchess. War had come. War was here. And war, was where Demons thrived.
