It gets released on April 30th and preorders are live now.

Edit: Seems like theres been over 200+ Pokemon confirmed so far for this "sequel" so look towards a decent playtime.

Ppl are calling it one but i dont think Nintendo has officially said if it is or not.

Then again im pretty late to the "hype" party so.

Edit: From the looks of it, it might just be a "reboot" of sorts with more Pokemon added and of course better graphics.
