For me, not precisely annoying and it was pretty popular back in the 80's and 90's, during martial arts/action movies when the protagonist is losing badly facing the villain... all of a sudden and without warning (sort of speak, lol) he/she remembers the past times of hard training with their master. Seconds after, he/she becomes insanely strong and sends the other person to kingdom come.
I'm thinking about "Bloodsport" saga, with good ol' Jean-Claude
cool soundtrack by the way.

Guy is (and always has been) in love with girl, but is stuck in the friendzone.
Girl falls in love with another guy... who turns out to be evil.
Guy #1 saves the day and girl realises she's loved him all along.
The End.
Who's the cat that won't cop out when there's danger all about?
The worst one. The hero and villain are fighting. Hero is about to die, but the villain drops dead. Revealing behind them a previous weak character or one we thought was dead.

Fear 1996 fits that category
dunno about the others off hand.
“We’re all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one”
Similar - "Many academics, most notably author Christopher Booker, believe there are only seven basic narrative plots in all of storytelling – frameworks that are recycled again and again in fiction but populated by different settings, characters, and conflicts." - these might wind you up too, when you start noticing it.
My pet peeve Cliche (if this is one, I'm not sure) is: when something is approaching the actor at speed, and you can pretty much gauge when they'd get hit by it from the perspective of the camera/lens, but it seems to reset it's position on the next frame, or goes slower, etc. so they can get out of the way, lol. It always makes me laugh. Like if an elevator is falling, or an explosion (where they're clearly in the kill zone) and have no chance of getting to cover in time but still manage to. Again, I don't know if that is 'cliche' but it kinda winds me up how fake it looks, takes me out of the 'immersion' when directors can't time things realistically.
