When it's pouring rain across the street and none of it touches my yard. A phenomenon common in this area. I've seen it raining on one side of the overpass, but the other side is dry as a bone.

Get a lawn sprinkler.
When my Mom was alive, we did. Then the city put everyone on water restriction. Any watering, including washing the car, had to be done during certain hours early morning and certain hours late afternoon twice a week. Your watering days depended on your house number. Then it was reduced to once a week. Rain meant free water and getting the lawn and plants watered on your off days.
Now that my Mom has passed, I have plants that survive well in drought conditions. But a nice rain in my yard is always welcomed.

Water restrictions? Do you live in California or something?

Florida. This used to be a small farming community surrounded by orange groves. The back to back heavy freezes of 1988 and 1989 wiped out the industry. Developers came in, bought up the land, cleared it and started building. People came and stayed. I don't remember why, but for some reason there weren't many people buying. The developers said, "Build and they will come." That's when the urban sprawl stated.
We used to have Monsoon Season. It would rain constantly for days. It was the rain that filled the aquifer and it was the groves that attracted the rain. Replace trees and earth with houses, cement, roadways and there's very little left to attract the rain. Because of the lack of rain, the earth has become hard and crusty. When it does rain it just runs off and doesn't soak in.
Our aquifer is so low the city needs to use chemicals to make the water drinkable, which wasn't the case years ago. The water here used to have a sweet, clean taste to it. Now, because of all the chemicals it has an unpleasant taste. Some plants that were common in this area can't tolerate the chemicals and are dying out.

We were due to join our youngest son and his fiancee for a menu tasting at the hotel where the reception is being held . The arranged time was yesterday ( Saturday 5th June ) at 6.30 pm. A little over 24 hours beforehand our son gets an email saying it can't go ahead and it couldn't be rebooked until at least next Friday. They didn't even have the courtesey to phone him to make sure he'd got the message! Me and hubby had got a room booked at that hotel so we wouldn't have a long drive back home afterwards ( about 3 hours ). Luckily we'd booked the room at a cancellable rate but at the moment we can't make a new room reservation because we don't know when its going to be. Another annoyance was we'd arranged to pop in to see friends on the way back home so we had to cancel seeing them.
edit to add. The tasting had been organised over 2 weeks ago so the hotel had plenty of time to get it organised

The limited choice of clothes available for larger people.
I went to a shopping centre yesterday to try and get a "mother of the groom" outfit for my son's wedding next month. I'm thoroughly disheartened and feeling very sad because there were very few ladies clothes shops that stocked those kinds of clothes. Those that had some didn't stock larger sizes.
Aren't larger old women allowed to have children who get married? I don't want to be reduced to buying "normal" clothes just because they'll fit me. I
need
something special for a special occasion.
*cries*
edit to add: I won't buy online due to being larger. I've lost count of the number of times I've seen something in a shop, tried it on and it looks awful on me. I also like to feel the fabric because some are really horrible.
My roommate borrowed my truck to get to and from work and some night owling while his was in the shop. He got his truck back and went to work. I jumped in the my truck and found the gas tank a hair above empty.
