On August 29th of 2021 Hurricane Ida made landfall in southeast Louisiana going over a place called port Fourchon which is a port right there on the gulf of Mexico, it then travelled northwest going over Galliano and Houma, I'm not certain of where it went after but at least 75 to 100 towns suffered severe damages and about 1 million people lost power as a result, the remnants of the hurricane then turned northeast causing flooding in New York where some 40+ individuals lost their lives.
My property took no damage, the wind just relocated a tin roof that wasn't nailed down to anything, I did however, watch a live feed of the hurricane as it went through Houma a building had it's roof torn off, a hospital in another town had a similar situation and an ICU unit lost electricity. The following day trees were cleared, streets and neighborhoods some 100 miles away were even flooded. Lot's of people lost everything they owned. If you have snapchat go to the snapchat map and look at the destruction in Houma, Laplace, Galliano, Grand Isle, Raceland, Cocordrie, and other places below New Orleans there's really /nothing/ left. If a structure didn't get crushed by trees or blown away with the wind it will likely be demolished and rebuilt. The people need help!
If anyone would like to donate to the recovery efforts please consider Reach Out America, and the Red Cross. Links below. I highly recommend doing research on these should you choose to make a donation. (personally I recommend ROA more than Red Cross). Also, people are willing to pay $1,500 a week to folks who come down here to clean up with food and housing being taken care of.
