A very rare flower is about to open in Cambridge for the first time ever in the UK.

It's also on livestream so all the World can watch it. It will only last 12 hours then snuff it.

Hopefully it shows and we can witness it and be part of it's history.

Can't wait. Watching it as much as I can.

Interesting! I've had a quick look and I plan to check every so often. The info said it only flowers at night so they might have to turn the lights off.

It doesn't look like it's doing anything very much right now. Maybe it's shy.

I saw the picture of an open bloom - it's a very pretty flower. And what an odd plant !

I just checked the live feed, still no sign of the bud opening. Maybe they will have to turn the lights off because the plant might not know its night time.

Edit to add: I was wrong. I skipped back a couple of hours in the video and compared it to the live feed. The bud is now across the whole width of the leaf behind it, a few hours ago it was only half way across.
