https://old.reddit.com/r/assholedesign/comments/plzlcj/dailymail_installs_their_software_on_your/

I accidentally pressed "allow" seen in the second picture of this reddit thread since they were switched around on dailymail and a popup showed up which had the usual save or cancel options. I clicked cancel and I never downloaded the exe file. I checked my chrome downloads and nothing was stored. I scanned with malwarebytes and got no red flags. Anyone else experience this on the dailymail website? Am I safe?

Their website is a classic example of poor design but they would do anything to make money. It is full of ads, trackers and unwanted auto-play videos. Not too surprised they now force adware down the pipes.

It's like they're saying: "Here, have some rubbish with your trash."

If you didn't download the file, have scanned and found nothing, you're probably fine. I would, however, recommend clearing all cookies for that site.

I hate that Website so much as it often pops up on my FB page.

Everytime I look Malwarebytes is blocking something from their site. 11 things last month on my log report. I try my very best not to click anything there and block as much as I can. Somehow they still pop up on FB.
