How long do tattoo take to heal?
Depends on the person and how you look after them.
You need to keep them in good condition. Meaning clean and pat or air dry and have cream on them. I use 2 types of cream now. Bepanthen or Savlon antiseptic cream. Both do different things.
The pain settles down after 4-10 hours. Yes it is painful. Ice pack does help.
For me it's around 4 days till it starts to peel and then it settles down.
I still wash and pat dry and put cream on 3 times a day untill maybe day 6-7 when I put cream on 2 times a day. After a few more days no more cream.
Also for me 1 of mine is still not right after 2 weeks. I'm struggling with spots now and a lot of them. These are caused by shaving my arm. The hairs are ingrowing and nothing can be done about them. It's the only 1 I've had issues with.

Tongue splitting sounds like a super uncomfortable and maybe complicated healing process. Can you document it for us? I'm curious.
LIKE HOW DO U EAT
i can do indeed. if people wish to know
yes its not the most comfortable procedure. theres many ways of doing it. and healing only takes 2 weeks 1 week with stitches. mouth doesnt take long to heal very quick
the main risk is infection. and during procedure its blood loss.

I think that particular body modification is illegal in the UK, for cosmetic purposes. Not sure though. Personally, I don't think it looks nice.
yes it is illegal in UK which is why im going to sweden to get it done. even though the guy i am going to is very good. i would probably be going to him anyway even if it was legal in uk... so meh

How long do tattoo take to heal?
depends on the area and the person. mine usually take 1 - 3 weeks depending on the placement. if its next to a vital organ (like my chest piece next to heart lungs etc) it took 1 week even though is one of my biggest pieces
however my hand and lower leg tattoos took 3 weeks
@Tenebri - once the procedure is done can you undo it - can they stitch your tongue split back together again?
And what about employment over the years, would that procedure cause difficulties in that department? You don't have any worries about future finances? (you are only young now, I'm thinking of when you are 40, 50, 60 years old?
Blue bird. Wanted another 1 as the other blue bird I have will be gone over with another new tattoo in a month or 2. It's a nice gap filler and I love it.
I'm now having a month off to recover. My body has gone throuhg a lot and so has my wallet lol. I need to save up some more cash for the next batch. Got them picked out just not ready to get them yet. News soon on what I've picked out and where they are going.
I'm also getting 1 of my old tattoos a make over. I've enver liked it since the day I got it. So it's getting a make over. News on that when I get it down. I'll do a before and after shots to see the difference.
I'm only getting 2 more and 1 makeover done. Then I need to think about any more being done. I'm not sure I'll get any more.
