When I was growing up ( over 50 years ago ) we'd never heard of garlic. Once I started work I bought a cookery book and decided to treat my parents by cooking them a meal. The recipe called for a garlic clove but I had no idea what that meant. I thought the whole bulb was the clove. Luckily I decided because it smelt so strongly I would only put 2 bits in!

Garlic and onions in everything!

Recently, I discovered a garlic and herb rub for meats. It's so fantastic, I use it in all my stir fry meals as a seasoning.

I love garlic soup. Has anyone else tried it? There are plenty of good recipes out there.

I'm a garlic lover too, I always have a bottle of olive oil with garlic handy... it transforms ordinary frozen supermarket pizzas into something much tastier.

I hated Garlic so much that if any was in the food I would not eat any of it.

Today I love it. I have it in most foods and used to have 1 clove per meal.

Now I often have 2-3 cloves depending on the food I'm cooking. I've often had 5-10 on chicken when it's slow cooked in my slow cooker.

I buy several bulbs a time and just keep them in the fridge. I also have dried garlic just incase I run out lol.

The life benifits are amazing eating it within reason. So it's very good for you. So eat some.

PS. Don't cut it and then rub your eye. It's a huge mistake. Trust me. :P

I can't remember my mum ever using garlic, I'm in my early 50s. In my mid teen years I went to this dudes mum's house and she had strings and strings of garlic all over her kitchen, just all these garlic bulbs, loads of them, never seen anything like it again.

I can't remember what age I was when I started using fresh garlic in my cooking, maybe 20s??
If fat means flavour then I'm ******* delicious!

I love garlic so much. It is my hope, my light, my reason to live. I rub it on toast, and I roast it and then munch on entire cloves.

Oh my gosh I did this too when I was about 15 and new to cooking, except I actually put all of it in. The recipe called for 2 cloves of garlic, so I used 2 entire heads. It was inedible because it was raw garlic lol. Though in sauces etc. I do use entire heads because I bloody love it. :)

Recently, I was introduced to a guy whom, I thought, had extremely bad breath. Later, we all decided to eat at a restaurant. I ended up sitting next to him. He reeked of an odor I'd smelt before, but couldn't put my finger on it. Throughout the meal I had wished one of my friends would offer to change places with me, but that didn't happen.

A few days later, I asked a friend who was with us that evening, if 'bad breath guy' had a hygiene issue. He said, no, and went on to say that he's a garlic freak. If I had mentioned it, he would have pulled out a zip lock bag with a few garlic cloves in it. He chews it like a gum chewer chews gum. He pops the entire clove in his mouth and constantly chews it until there is nothing left of it, but unlike the gum chewer who spits out the used gum, he swallows what's left of it. When he gets nervous or upset, he'll chew one after another like a smoker may chain smoke. I guess that's why he can't keep a wife long enough to have children, or perhaps fear that the children may chew like he does.

His words, not mine.
