Many people are well aware that the current trend isn't sustainable. Even unionization was just one of many revolutions and it was bloody. Hopefully this time it will be less bloody, but with how willing business owners were to kill off their workers in the covid era in the name of profit (and how very little our government cared), I am betting this time around, it probably won't be much prettier.
So, yeah, we probably won't see anything substantial in this lifetime, but the middle class has been and is continuing to shrink and get pushed to the lower class and the higher class just keeps getting richer. How, exactly, do you think this is going to end?
Also, it is hardly a secret that economic inequality is a hot topic already. People are pissed off and will only continue to get worse per the trends. Wages adjusting for inflation are stagnated, healthcare costs are still bankrupting people (if they even choose to go because deductibles are unaffordable), rents and mortgages are skyrocketing, the cost of living is up, social security will start depleting by 2035 (and with the decreasing birthrate, it isn't coming back)... truly I could go on about the macroeconomic conditions, but at this point, I'd say it is delusional to think what we have now is sustainable. It is very clearly not sustainable at all and something needs to change.
And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known
