You've not heard of Radiohead? They were a really influential Indie rock band in the 1990s. They're still making albums though, and they're still top notch. The range of musical style varies hugely, but the general themes are of separation, paranoia, government and suffering. The mood of their music is generally cold, atmospheric, sprawling and sometimes tense. Of course, this can't explain all of their songs, for example "Just" from "The Bends" isn't anything like you'd expect from the band. In fact, you expect to be surprised by the creativity of the group whenever you buy one of their albums.
