@Element For being a new drinker, I would stick to what you know and branch out to a few darker beers later on. Once you truly develop a taste for beer, you will like it a bit more dark than just a Budweiser.
Sandels, anything from Sine*rychoff, Heineken for the usual taste. Guinness in pubs.
But for eating out I prefer Belgian beer, preferably Hoegaarden Witbier
