why did the British transfer their technology to the Americans in ww2.

I read on Wikipedia that the blueprints of the radar from the British was described by the Americans as the single most valuable thing to ever come to our shores.

If you go back to the Wiki page you found, you'll see the word "Allies" used 11 times, and "Allied" used 20 times.... so I'm gonna go with "
because they were allies
".
Who's the cat that won't cop out when there's danger all about?

but isnt this the reason the British lost their technological edge to the Americans. I mean lets face it after ww2 Britain was no longer a super power.

It was kind of useless at the time tbh. All it could tell you is that something is in the air, not who, what or how many. But I guess that was good enough. And yet it still wasn't good enough because a radar was installed at Honolulu and the radar techs saw the planes incoming but brushed it off as a squad of B29's which was supposed to be landing at Ford Island in Honolulu/Pearl City when it was actually a ton of Japanese planes.
