Personally, I have always despised cigarettes and the act of smoking. Apart from the fact that it pesters me personally because it does not allow me to properly breathe, I believe it's inadequate and repulsive to kiss someone who smokes. Not only that, but no matter how much perfume or cologne you utilize, the odor of smoking will always stick to your skin and clothes. Just the thought of it gives me nightmares. It's profoundly frowned upon within my immediate family, so you can assume our views on smoking within our society and culture.

I wholeheartedly agree with the bans in workplaces and indoor settings. I find it completely unfair for people that have to second-hand smoke because someone else is smoking near them. For that reason, I do not have to inhale your smoke due to your vice if you are a co-worker of mine or if we are located indoors. If you wish to enjoy your hobby, please do so far away from me and alone. You can slowly damage your health on your own.

I have never smoked, I do not smoke and I will never smoke. I try to respect other person's choices and whatnot, but if you are near me or are a close person (namely, a partner or a spouse), then you will definitely hear it from me. I have to respect your choices, but I do not have to agree with them and I do not have to be with you if you smoke and I do not want to.

I don't have any strong opinions on the matter. Everyone has their own poison they take and demons to fight so who am I to judge?

Just due to the nature of smoking, the bans make sense.

I do not smoke.
And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known

In the UK you cannot smoke indoors in any place the public or colleagues go - shops, bars, restaurant, theatres, workplace, transport and so on. It's been thus since about 2007 (from memory). That's fine by me.

I used to smoke but gave it up a good few years ago.

I'm quite surprised if I see a person smoking a cigarette in the street now. I haven't looked at any statistics but merely from observation there seems to be a lot less people smoking them these days, hereabouts anyway.

Vaping seemed to be quite common for about 5 years but even that doesn't seem nearly as common now as it once was.

I'm guessing the older generations of smokers either quit or died (smoking related or otherwise). By the amount of small cannisters laying around in the roads and streets these days I assume young people get their jollies by other means.

I'm trying to quit... I smoke the weakest, 0.8mg cigarettes and I'm down to a few a day, 3 or 4 or 5 maybe.

I quit smoking green. I rarely drink. I'm trying to climb out of the hole I dug for myself. I sort of felt like I was 5"10" under but now I feel like superman with my feet off the ground.

I've never liked vape. I'm no supporter of vaping. I noticed that all the people I know who vape also do this ice, and I don't know anyone who does ice that doesn't vape..... I was never into ice or vape and I ditched my friends that are.

______
As far as people smoking in public, when I'm walking around and someone lights up a cigarette near me I'm like... mmmmmm.... and take a deep breath trying to smell the smoke.
______
As far as the whole society thing, I can't say too much without getting too political apart from...... people should be allowed to do whatever they want and that includes refuse service for any reason they decide including smoking or not wearing a mask.
Dear God, please send the competition, feels like there ain't any.
I long lost count of the victories, there were just far too many.

I did smoke up until a few weeks ago. I'd smoked for a few years.

I've never really had any strong opinions on it personally. I guess I agree with the indoor bans? It does stain walls and such after a while. Saves on cleaning costs, if you care about that I suppose.

I've been a smoker for many years and, at my age, I have no intentions of quitting. My Doctors don't even give me "It's bad for your health" speech anymore.

I rarely drink alcohol and find that a cigarette can have a cathartic effect in a stressful situation. I don't advocate for people to start smoking nor do I encourage someone to stop, unless that someone is trying to quit, then I'll give that someone a reminder.

In my younger years, nearly everyone smoked, so it was socially acceptable. You could go to someone's house, even a non-smoker, and there would be an ashtray readily available. I was in the military during the Vietnam War and there was always a half pack of cigarettes in the C-Rats (MREs weren't out yet).

I understand the smoking bans, and I support them. Some people have allergies to smoke and others can't stand the smell. My Dad used to tell me that I smelled like old burning rags (he smoked a pipe and cigars.....ewww cigars). What I don't agree with are companies that have a ban on smoking anywhere on the property...even in the parking lot or in your car that's parked in the parking lot.

My Sister-in-Law worked in the Corporate Offices of a bank chain. There's a ban on smoking anywhere on the property. One of her co-workers would go to his car after lunch to smoke. He got caught by security an number of times. His Boss told him that if he was caught one more time, he would be fired from his job. The parking lot was huge, so he started driving across the street to a mall parking lot for his cigarette breaks.

Funny, later he learned that the people working in Receiving and Distribution had their own little smoking area that the Security Guards used, too. He started going over there and discovered some of the Guards that turned him in were there smoking. Nothing more was ever said about him smoking on the property.

I used to smoke years ago. I think it was a far more prevalent thing to do back then.

I have no problem with other people smoking now- it is their choice, I do believe though that their smoke should not affect anyone else whatsoever so bans in any public places where other people congregate and workplaces are the right thing to do.

I don`t think people should smoke in cars with the window open when they have their children in the back which I have seen quite frequently, it does not stop the smoke getting inside the car. One could also argue that it would be good if they did not smoke in a room with their pets either.
