I had a few young hens several years ago and one would regularly lay a large egg that contained two yokes. It was neat to get them as I had never seen it before. However, we were always worried for the health of the hen since these were very large eggs she was laying. The good thing is that she would not do it every single time and it became rare as time passed.
I did a bit of reading on it, it stated it usually happens with young hens and tappers of with age. So this could be the reason over time it stopped
Size 7 is considered a large egg in NZ. They come in sizes, 5, 6, 7 and 8. I've never brought a size 8, they are recommended for soft boiled egg with soldiers (thin stripes of toast to dip in the soft yolk).

Ehh, I get one about once every 2 months. I bake a lot and eat eggs nearly everyday for breakfast. So about a dozen a week * 8 weeks = 96 eggs. So about 1 in 100 here.
Prior to this lot of double yolks, it's a rare thing. So that's not bad getting approx 1 in 100
I brought a tray of eggs last week, free range and they don't expire until August some time and they are oldish :/ How you can tell is by the white part, the more runny it is the older they are. If you break an egg say into a fry pan the whole egg should hold shape. I fried two today, the first one the white didn't hold much of a shape, the second one spread every where, it was like water
and I wanted it to fit into a sandwich for the boys, an egg Mcmuffin but between toast. I have an egg poacher, there is so many parts to clean, so it sits in the back of the cupboard, I would say it's around 20 - 25 years old and near new; I should pull it out for my egg Mcmuffin.

What an eggstroardinary thread.
You picked an eggcellent time to yolk around, Nubby!
I've probably only seen one or two (definitely less than 5) double-yolked eggs in my entire life and my family consumes it's fair share of eggs between baking and cooking. I'd be quite surprised to find so many and start to research whether or not I could consider it a sign of good luck!

Food scientists have finally managed to remove the mint flavor from gum! The ex-spearmint was a success!
Never had a Double Yoke Duck egg, We had about 6-10 ducks doing their own thing so the eggs were only occasional accidental finds.
Same with Geese, anyone had a fried Goose Egg - amazing flavour - 1 egg fills the frying pan.
Would have been better to make this topic more musical using british only folk artists, imagine a playlist of 16 songs solely from british folk artists and then made into a musical masterpiece called....
