I am not surprised by this, this is quite common in political parties who wish to promote or stir controversy. My old university had protests quite often. Usually about union worker rights or especially around 2016 more political topics being "left vs right". My university once had what many people consider at the time a controversial guest speaker. I went out of curiosity because he challenged alot of the beliefs that my university promoted and wanted to hear a different perspective I dont really hear about often.

There was a metal fence that separated the students attending in line and the other side were protesters. You would expect the protestors may be students as well who are against having him speak, but no that was not the case. Many of them were grown people 30+ years who looked either homeless, alot cover their face to not be identified, and although some had vocal people, many were only holding signs looking bored and looking at their watches. When the event started, about 20 minutes in you see majority protestors outside are not even there anymore. These were all signs to me they were likely paid protestors, not that they were really into their cause.

It looks like this old thread was posted quite some time before the "no politics" rule was reintroduced, but now it definitely crosses that line, so it's time for a lock.
