It is still possible to connect to the internet on some Wii games, even though the services have been discontinued by Nintendo. There are now custom servers for games such as Mario Kart and Brawl called "Wiimmfi". I still play online MKW with hundreds of others this way.

My Wii U games list is pretty weak, atm I only have Mario Kart 8, Mario Party 10, New Super Mario Bros U, and Splatoon. I want to get Mario Kart, though.

I'll be honest, I don't have very many games on my Wii U. It came with Nintendoland and Super Mario 3D World built in, and I also have Hyrule Warriors and Smash Bros. Of these, though, the only one I've played is Hyrule Warriors. Anybody have any suggestions for games I should get, whether they be eshop or retail?

For the record, I have no interest in the virtual console; I have emulators for that.

Splatoon is definitely worth the purchase if you like third person shooters, but it plays somewhat differently and shooting is only part of the objective :) you get gear to upgrade with better abilities and with the fact splatfests are every 3-4 weeks you can get snails from those to upgrade your gear even more :)

I'd also recommend Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze if you like platformers, excellent game that I've had a lot of fun with, it's very challenging at points but never unfair.

yes, a shame the wi fi for wii is gone :( , they really should stop disabling wi fis of one console generation when the next one's out, since not everyone can afford to upgrade as often (I'm one of the lucky few that somehow affords it, but still)

however, I love splatoon and how active the community is, very easy to get matches.

It was because the host of the servers went out of business and Nintendo didn't wanna reallocate the data.

I am in love with Splatoon! It's pretty much the only Wii U game that I play amongst my small collection of games.

In order of playtime frequency, I own:

1. Splatoon
2. Super Mario Maker
3. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
4. Mario Kart 8
5. Yoshi's Woolly World
6. Nintendo Land

I must add, however, that now that Nintendo has finally announced confirmation on their upcoming console, the Nintendo NX, I'm very hesitant to buy any more games from them for the Wii U. Splatoon has been keeping my impulsive purchases at a surprising low, so I'm confident I won't have too much trouble saving money for the next big thing!

Yeah Splatoon is pretty addictive at times, I was on it all saturday just gone for the Pokemon Splatfest, pretty crazy it was (lost a lot of games lol) and I love the weapons.

What level are you on Splatoon anyway, what weapons do you like using?
