As long as our needs are met, I think we'd adapt just fine. Robots would make it easier and cheaper to supply a population with food, water, clothing, shelter, potentially cleaner air, more sleep due to reduced work hours. I feel like robots would be a good supplement, but if they started doing everything we'd have esteem issues. Social 'things' like status, respect, recognition, sense of freedom; robots that might ruffle a few feathers in that 'realm'. Personal security would be a double edged sword, there's plenty of science fiction movies on that (blade runner, terminator, a.i). Our human aspirations would have to change, we might have to compete on a different level, say virtually. Our wants and desires would change, things that were once sought after would be commodities. There's a lot to it. I'm personally optimistic about this kind of future, however what does worry me are nano-robots, implants and the like. "Everything in our digital world is stored by ones and zeros" (binary) "so we clearly don't want them changing". A short article on the dangers of solar flares here - https://www.euronews.com/next/2021/11/03/how-can-we-stop-solar-flares-knocking-out-driverless-cars-gps-systems-and-the-internet-its

There needs to be an analogue kill-switch, or analogue systems in place for humans to use in-case more advanced systems go down. Basic survival should be part of every schools curriculum. The more reliant we are the more at risk we are. Supplement not solution.

Reviving this as I just spotted this news item about Dyson working on home robots!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-61574202

"The company has announced plans to create a major robotics centre at its facility at Hullavington Airfield, in Wiltshire, that will work on new types of domestic robot."

It's an interesting development and it could be really beneficial to people who have a disability.
Who's the cat that won't cop out when there's danger all about?
