So last night I'm piloting my Imperial shuttle driving my car, and all of a sudden the "AMP" light comes on in bright red and my voltmeter goes from 14.6V to 10.4V.

I land the stupid thing pull the car over and open the hood and touch the ion drive alternator, and it's very hot to the touch.

I said some vulgar things and then flew drove it back home. Amazingly, I made it.

I replaced the ion drive alternator 10 months ago.

I disconnected the power supply battery and am waiting on diagnosing why it did this to me. My personal feeling is that it simply hates me.

Anyone else have a vehicle that hates them?

The service light on my car has been turned on for 5 years. No garage has ever managed to turn it off. I'm passively anxious that everyone is looking at my dashboard judging me even when it has a perfect yearly service history. It exists only to humiliate me, the unyeilding yellow glow burns my retinas, nothing will ever satisfy this monster.

It could be a bad ground to the sensor, causing it to turn on.

My car has actual glow lamps, so when it's night time and they come on you know it.

I don't think any of my cars have ever hated me but they definitely have personalities.
You have to give them names, then they'll treat you better ;)

I have tire sensors on my truck that tells me when the air is too low. After filling up the tires, I have to drive a few miles to reset the sensors. Last time the sensors came on, I had the tires filled and have driven hundreds of miles and the message "low tire pressure" is still on. I can't access the computer to monitor the other features of the truck, like actual miles per gallon in real time and other stats.

Upon some research, I found out that there are a number of reasons for the sensors going whack-o and have to be recalibrated manually using an electronic instrument designed to do just that. An accurate instrument that the garages uses are pretty expensive, if you want to do it yourself. Having it done costs a pretty penny, too, since all 4 tires have to be recalibrated.

I've definitely called my car by some of its nicknames, but if I say what they are here I might get muted.

^ Disconnect and buy a set of pressure cap sensors and display unit, shows temperature as well as pressure with alarm - cost (UK) £25

I read about those but the info didn't stick between the ears. I'll look at them again.

I don't think my car hates me - possibly prefers the company of others but is too polite to say so. It's very old and getting a bit forgetful .... sometimes the idiot chime for 'lights left on' works, sometimes not. Same for the idiot chime for 'door left open'.

It's too basic and ancient to have anything as sophisticated as warning lights for servicing etc., which is probably a good thing given it's decline in memory.
