I don't know if I would even call that particular song plain rock per se....but then, I don't know what I would call it, either.

It has a "rock skeleton", but I understand your idea: it's one of those songs that is hard to classify. Maybe it was a song ahead of its time, like the Grosse Fugue by Beethoven?
