The iconic rock and pop composer Jim Steinman has passed away from kidney failure at the age of 73, after a protracted illness.
Among his best known works were such classics as:
- 'Bat Out of Hell' (for Meat Loaf)
- 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' (for Bonnie Tyler)
- 'Dead Ringer for Love' (for Cher & Meat Loaf)
- 'I'd Do Anything For Love' (for Meat Loaf)
- 'Holding Out For A Hero' (for Bonnie Tyler)
- 'Read 'Em And Weep' (for Barry Manilow)
- 'Making Love Out Of Nothing at All' (for Air Supply)
- 'You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth' (for Meat Loaf)
- 'Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad' (for Meat Loaf)
He also worked on Celine Dion's album 'Falling Into You', wrote stage musicals, and worked on numerous other projects with a broad range of artists.
As he once said:
"If you don't go over the top, how are you ever going to see what's on the other side?"
RIP.
~~~~ Just another victim of the ambient morality ~~~~
I'd never heard of him either but I've definitely heard of most of the songs listed. He was a great talent and the music world is going to miss him.
RIP
