Mid-season finale tonight, the reviews are really good for it!
Also I haven't watched like the last 4 episodes of the Talking Dead. :(

They all do it so they can fill time slots for the rest of the year. NBC,CBS,ABC, FOX USA, SyFy etc all do it. The only shows that don't always have mid season finales are the new shows (1st season) unless they get picked up for a full season which is generally 20ish episodes for channels like FOX.
All adds up for more commercial $$$.
