I was a HUGE fan of the first season. The series felt hopeless and dismal. Yet, Rick was that last glimmer of hope that universally, every viewer was unconditionally rooting for. I thought the second season got a tad boring at times but it was still pretty intriguing and fun to watch. Meanwhile, the third season made me almost quit watching the show several times. The fourth season was - at times - a bit iffy but it seems like the foundations in which the protagonists have built is finally shook and it could lead way into the renewal (for me anyways) of a great show.
