Apparently Thierry Henry is the favourite to be the new Aston Villa manager now. Certainly couldn't have predicted him getting the job, if he does.

It was more the obvious 1 once Bruce was sacked, when the new owners came in, in the summer, they originally wanted rid of Bruce and wanted to appoint Henry as there 1st move but at this point Villa fans were still firmly behind Bruce and they'd seen the reaction of the rumour via social media and certain polls so in the end stuck with Bruce.

It's obviously a big risk but he'll try and play attacking football and rumours have it John Terry will be his number 2 who obviously knows the club from last season. Although the odds of Henry have increased while Terrys have shortened this morning but not by much...Henry 1/6, JT 6/1 as 2nd favourite.

I believe Brendan Rodgers wants the job reading his comments and Sky Sports reported yesterday if Henry don't get the job Roberto Martinez is in the frame which would be a strange one considering he just took Belgium to the semis of a world cup and signed a long term deal before the WC
Shaw, Williams, prepared to venture down the left. There’s a good ball in for Tony Morley. Oh, it must be... It is... Peter Withe !

Odds are changing at a ridiculous pace

Henry is now 25/1 while Terry 14/1 with SkyBet, Terry was 1/2 favourite last night

Since the sacking the favourite has gone from Smith, to Moyes, to Henry, to Terry and now to Faria

Dean Smith who was also 16/1 last night is now 2/1 2nd favourite.

I don't think anyone really knows what our new owners have planned as shown by the odds

Henry is also fave for Monaco job now after Jardims sacking yesterday

And there we have it, Dean Smith is appointed Villa manager "head coach" with John Terry assistant and some bloke called Jesus Garcia Pirchard as Director of Football, he's previously worked at Valencia and then Atletico Madrid in that role.

I must say, I love how discreet Villa have kept all this. I was literally watching a video on Sky Sports as Villa announced it, Sky Sports were saying there was 5 people in the frame to be Villa manager, Brendan Rodgers had been formally contacted, Dean Smith was yet to be formally contacted but was in the frame.

Dean Smith was confirmed during the time I watched it

From Henry to Rui Faria to Dean Smith in the span of the last 24 hours?

John Terry came after Henry O_o

Henry 1/8 then Terry 1/2 then Faria was 1/6 and then Dean Smith was about 1/4 when I'd last checked

Dean Smith could at least get Aston Villa playing entertaining football, but I wonder if he'll do a good enough job to get them promoted.

My prediction is he'll be sacked at the end of the season after Aston Villa fail to get promoted. If he gets them to the play-offs and that's how he fails, then I would expect him to stay.

But yeah, the space of time in which so many managers were linked with the job, was pretty odd. Maybe the news that outlets were reporting was fabricated or was just old news.
