Yes, they're horrid! I had to have one of my head a few years back due to a suspected brain tumour, so my head was strapped in a box and it and my upper body had to go into the machine. The noise was appalling, and it was very coffin-like and claustrophobic :(

When will you get your results?

You definitely had it worse, my glasses were off but at least I could see out the other end. Those pulsing electronic multitones didn't bother me too much but they grew tedious after a while. Not sure when I'll hear back, the radiology clinic may call me or I might have to wait until I schedule another appointment with the hand specialist to go over the results (had the MRI at a separate facility because the hospital couldn't get me in until the 16th, and I'm moving cross-country on the 13th).

Just hoping it's not too fucked since I have full range of movement and minimal pain but because of the 'deformity' it's not a mild injury.

I've obviously missed the beginning of the story - what happened to your hand in the first place?

Those tonal noises when your head is stuck right inside the machine are dreadfully loud, and rather scary.

And no swearing on the forums !!

Basically I sprained my wrist last summer falling on asphalt, got it checked out, doctor didn't see a fracture so I wore a brace for a month and that was that. It's my non-dominant hand and it doesn't really hurt any more except for discomfort when the wrist is extended and pressure applied (like a pushup). Went to see a specialist on Tuesday, X-ray revealed the middle bone at the base of my hand slides out of place in some positions (the 'deformity'), that plus some side-to-side clunking means I have likely torn a specific ligament in my hand, hence the MRI.

It's always fun when you research your injury to find "Isolated injury of the [ligament] and its associated structures is less common and is poorly understood compared with [other wrist ligament tears]" in the abstract of a medical paper.
