Soooo,

Does anyone know the first permanent French settlement in the (now) US is?

I get that Quebec was the first permanent French settlement in North America, but what about the US? I'm thinking Green bay, but I can't find anything that specifically says "Green Bay (La Baye) was the first permanent settlement in the US". But idk, there were apparently a lot of failures. And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known

In 1634, Jean Nicolet founded La Baye des Puants (present-day Green Bay).
Having had a quick read-around, it seems that anything founded before that was short-lived although the French appear to have returned to the area of some earlier failures (such as Quebec) at later times due to the land/resources being desirable.

But I couldn't swear to it. Even I wasn't around back then to see it for myself.

Yeah, that is what I was reading.

I think I'll add it to my timeline. Lord knows that I'll come across someone that'll be like "omg u so dumb lololol green bay wasn't the first" - and i'll have my answer then. And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known

Finally saw the new Poltergeist movie today, not that bad for anyone yet to see it. The ending was kinda' rushed and silly as most of those kinds of movies are; but still worth seeing.
