I did a mix of plunder, traders and elf* 94-99. 90-94 was mostly challenges/port. to 90 I blackjacked/plundered.

Misconception I think. It is a mass appeal hobby ranging from 5-90+ However I think there are less young people interested in it in the past couple of decade compared with previous years if I were to guess.
It is sad when you read articles about how out of touch children are with the natural world. Getting people of all ages interested in it is important and i think our wildlife would be better for it if people came to appreciate it more.
Patch working being you have a local area that while it may be boring you record everything over years and hope something rare occasionally pops up. The plus side is common birds that you can see all all over if not resident/ perfect habitat become rare with a decent chance of being seen.
