I actually enjoy an old game i keep returning to called Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Especially cause it has a large modding comunnity which keeps it fun aswell.
Runescape will always be my #1 though. You can check out any time you like but you can never leave x)
Besides RuneScape, I have to say The Master Chief Collection, Modern Warfare 2, both Battlefield Bad Companies, and Battlefield 3. I have sunk an ungodly amount of time in all of those. Non-first person shooters would have to be the Uncharted, Spider-Man, and Zelda games. I'd put those hours in again if I had to! (if I was a little younger of course.)

Well, to some extent I think every game is a bit like that. So long as I haven't gotten bored, it's "hard" to stop playing. Part of what makes RuneScape such a good game is that, often, we can keep playing even when we have to focus on something else for a while.
But, if we're just talking the "Just one more round!" phenomenon...
Pretty much any PvP game of any kind. Mario Kart, Splatoon, League of Legends... those are some of the ones that I have played. They're problematic because, at least for me, those kinds of games can drastically affect my mood. When things go well, it feels great and I say "Just one more time!" But when things go badly, whether because of a losing streak or people just being jerks, etc, I get gradually more aggravated and yet still say "Just one more time!" Because somehow it feels like if I keep playing, things will get better. Or at least, stopping when I'm dejected just makes me feel dejected for hours after the fact, so I keep playing and
hope
that my mood improves. And if it does, I end up continuing until it all goes bad again...
So yeah, as you can probably tell, it's kind of a negative feedback loop in disguise. So, I usually try my best to avoid playing PvP games. Though, Mario Kart is usually a lot safer than the others.
Besides PvP games, sometimes games that sort of lock the player into a run of something can get me hooked like that. One example that comes to mind is Hades. A rogue-lite(?). A clear takes like 25-40 minutes. It's not THAT hard to stop after clearing, but I often do make the poor decision to play through one more time. Often before bed, thinking "Oh, yeah, I'm not that tired. I can fit in one more..." ... I always regret that the next morning.
Been playing Resi 4 remake all week and just beaten Salazar. It's a good game but I don't see why 4 needed a remake. Code Veronica would've been a better choice.
The age of chivalry is gone; that of sophisters, economists, and calculators has succeeded, and the glory of Europe is extinguished forever.
Guess my active gamer (more like retro gaming) days are over. I posted in this thread like seven years ago and I'm quite surprised, in a nostalgic way. Now I only play RuneScape every now and then.
Heard about Diablo 2: Resurrected and instantly smiled. Maybe I'll try it... if I ever get a better Laptop/PC, instead of the toaster I'm using. That's one virtue of RS: you can still play it with a not-so-powerful equipment
Leveling +110 all skills and completing stuff here and there
