start with soft stuffs like avatar ,after that watch naruto, dragon ball etc then move to full metal alchemist, death note and stuffs like that and then you are done, you are graduate and can start to watch stuffs with japenese names and you know, etc

Ok, first we'll starty with the fact that Avatar >>>IS NOT<<< An anime, its just the americans ripping of the japanese art style again (ironically, the origins of the aniem style are found in old american cartoons...)
I would actually advise AGAINST getting bogged down in the long running shounen shows like one peice, naruto and bleach, since alot of people get suck in a rut there and never really move on to any of the other stuff.
Ide also refrain from asking for reccomendations, one of the best way to find good anime is to just pick something up randomly. A good way to start would be to look up the upcoming anime season (Autumn/Fall 2010) and read some descriptions of the stuff to be released soon, then watch what you like thr sound of.
