Yeah, I've tried to watch it, but I can't find it on any of my usual sites. And before you ask, no, I don't download my episodes because my computer is slow enough as is, downloading anything more will most likely cause it to have a seizure. (A.K.A. Crash.)
Edit: Of course since then I realized I never did a google search and behold I found it...

You should look into buying a new computer then
Anyways... Ryvius has probably the most intense first few episodes to draw you in then after that it's just angst and emotions. You get a few battles later on against the "enemy". But, their own worst enemy is themselves. Also, a lot of mystery and psychological aspects. I literally had goosebumps practically throughout the whole show.
You seem to have liked NGE a lot, so I'm definite you will like Ryvius.

i Revive
it is worlds beyond .hack though i couldn't finish the 2nd episode when i tried to pick it up
the problem with SAO is that by episode 6 they have already spent 2 years trapped but apparently ALO is even better so maybe they want to put more time in there
still it's really really good, better than 95% of the season (and this is a good one)

SAO is too over-hyped and it isn't delivering. Like I said a few pages ago, it's just meaningless side stories so far with no depth. I hope the actual main story kicks in some time soon so it will at least get interesting.
Currently airing shows that I believe are better than SAO:
Eureka Seven AO
Kokoro Connect <------ Anime of the season
Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse
Dog Days'
Oda Nobuna no Yabou
Hyouka
Natsuyuki Rendezvous
Accel World
Tari Tari
Bin*ougami ga!
well i'm watching all of those but eureka and dog days and i can say
Kokoro Connect: i agree i still can't wait for the next episode
Total Eclipse: i don't think it's as good as SAO so far, and they want to make Yui sleep with the MC which will make it drop further
Oda: it's much better than i expected however we all know noone in the main cast in going to die (at least not any of the girls) so it isn't as thrilling, almost as good as SAO
Hyouka: No, it's good but the forced drama doesn't help, the art is the best this season hands down though, as expected from KyoAni.
Natsuyuki: Not really comparable but SAO is still more entertaining.
Accel: 18 episodes in and Haru is still a *aggot, it's been getting better lately though.
Tari Tari: no, it isn't even close
Bin*ougami: fun but not as good
these are just my impressions though.
being Aoki is suffering i bet Yui will kiss Taichi or something soon
I don't like the route Muv-Luv is taking either. I already figured Yui would fall for Yuuya anyway so it isn't a surprise. It's just... why the hell do they go to the beach in the midst of the world being destroyed. Really need some BETA action SOON.
I really like the character designs in Oda and I find it much more entertaining than SAO. Loli ninjas are always a plus.
I'll agree with the Hyouka forced drama bit. Still find it more fun than SAO, I guess I can relate to Oreki and I actually like Chitanda's autism.
For Natsuyuki... I really wish the guy would get back into his own body. Really curious to see the next episode since she just unknowingly admitted to her late husband that she's now in love with another man. Josei is always good.
I don't care for Haru's character that much either, yet he still has more depth than Kirito who is just a boring Gary Stu.
I'm actually really impressed with Tari Tari so far. I thought it was just going to be some lighthearted high school series. Ahh.. but these feels. Really well presented drama so far, looking forward to seeing what will happen with Sawa.
Bin*ougami ga!... I find quite hilarious. I like the gag comedy and has a great cast.
