Been watching an anime called Sora wo Miageru Shoujo no Hitomi ni utsuru Sekai (The world reflected in the eyes of a girl who looks up at the sky) and I have to say that this is quite possibly the most pointlessly melodramatic storytelling that I have ever encountered.
There's this one part about halfway through the series were the boyfriend of one of the side character girls show's up at school to pick her up. She leaves with him and the teachers are running around like headless chooks looking for them, follow them to one of those drainage channel rivers and find them swimming across it, and freak out because they somehow get the impression that they are attempting to commit suicide.
If that's not enough, half the school and several parents then show up and start cheering them on. I mean seriously, they're two teenagers swimming across a drainage river, one of whom has a PFD, its not that spectacular or significant, nor was it particularly explained why they were doing that.
Giant rocks then descended from the sky....
All this in the middle of a story about an interdimensional war, the telling of which is horrible I might add. The main motivation for the war makes sense but its still not very well explained, and it's hard to figure out exactly who is who and who's fighting who and why...
On the positive side, its got some very nice magical combat animation, lots of explosions and a cute girl for the main character. That's enough to pull me through more or less anything
