Wasn't Rewrite pretty horrible? Thus the title name. “Loddfafnir, listen to my counsel: You will fare well if you follow it, It will help you much if you heed it. If aware that another is wicked, say so: Make no truce or treaty with foes.” - Havamal 127

As prophesied, here I am lol.

I dunno if I would have called Rewrite 'bad', but it's still far from the best work that they've ever produced. Of course, it's also very different from anything that they had produced before as well, alot more adventure/combat aspects and less drama, plus the outsourcing of two scenarios and minimal contribution from Maeda to the scenarios. Of the initial promo stuff I saw for Harmonia, seems like they are going back to their original way of doing things, so I think of Rewrite mostly as an experiment.

Of course, Rewrite has that same little problem that Little Busters had, there's no realistic way to merge the routes without heavy changes to one of the critical points in the story. There's only one way I could think of to do it, but I can't help but feel that method would reduce peoples investment in the individual character arcs, which the story has problems with already (I only found one arc that properly did the job), and doesn't help the fact that the world ends multiple times.

As for the studio, well... it's not KyoAni. Hopefully 8-bit will do a better job (and contribute a better budget) than J.C Staff bothered with, but their roster of past work doesn't exactly fill me with confidence in their ability to execute. 12 series, 2 movies, only one of them is a visual novel adaptation (which varied in quality). Kinda low-key for something so high profile.

Finished Charlotte and despite its awful problems and im sure there's plenty of people on this thread who could absolutely slaughter it for what it was but idc much like angel beats I absolutely loved the show.....wasnt completely satisfied with the ending (just give me a kiss scene ffs but oh well)

which brings me to my next point as someone who's a pretty big romance guy now I cant talk for the VNs as ive only played kanon/clannad but I dont think i've watched a single key anime where the level of romance has actually satisfied me whether that be Angel Beats Clannad Little busters kanon 06 air or charlotte

Can somebody here suggest to me some summer 2015 anime to watch? Thanks

Himouto! Umaru-chan
Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou
Non Non Biyori Repeat (season 2)
Working!!! (season 3)

That's about it. This season has been quite lackluster.

And now someone who holds a view completely in the middle of the two already stated.

It's somewhat the nature of the genre that the romance is a secondary consideration when you view them as a collective whole. It's a given that the tragedy takes center stage, an much of the time is spent on the build-up to that. Romance is more of a necessity of the medium than the creative aim of Key's works, or so it seems to me.

Indeed, I would say that for the most part almost every arc tends to be a prelude to romance, the setting of a scenario for two individuals to realize their mutual feelings for each other though adversity, and that the actual romance could be assumed to come after. Of course, some never make it that far, and some go further only to give a little bit of romance before suffering tragedy in post. Either way, it's all about the tragedy, everything else is a vehicle for that.
