Yeah, but the difference is that Nyarko is actually in a human form presumably with human bits, so even if she is some sort of horrible Lovecraftian abomination by default, she's still human enough.
In Saya's case, she only appears human to the player from *uminori's perspective when in actuality she's not (unless the game is misdirecting me, always a possibility considering the author). So thinking about it that way, God knows what he's sticking his pecker in.
And nice to know I'm not the only one. I'm up to episode 12 at the mo, and so far the only characters I actually don't like (aside from in the obvious 'hate the villains' way) are Shirou and Sakura. Both of them are a feminists nightmare with her being a clingy doormat and him being so unreasonably and pointlessly chivalrous it borders on unintentional chauvinism.
