A couple friends are down on their luck and are between jobs. They needed a place to stay, so I invited them to stay with me, since I have some extra room I'm not using. They are actively looking for jobs.
This has put a crimp in the food situation, so we went to the food bank yesterday. They fill the boxes and bags for each person so you don't know what you're getting. Here was my take:
A whole chicken, a package of chicken legs and a package of chicken wings.
A few can goods: beans (mostly), tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, soup and veggies.
A package of fresh whole carrots.
Two boxes of cookies.
A bottle of apple juice.
A bag of fresh apples.
A loaf of wheat bread.
A package of spaghetti.
A quart of milk.
Two cloths for cleaning eye glasses (with an advertisement for a life insurance company).
A very small bag of hard candy.
I bought nothing.
This is only temporary.

Let's flip a coin; heads I win, tails you lose. Fair enough?
Just went to Waitrose which I try and avoid usually as end up spending too much as they have such lovely food, but just bought lots of salad stuff and houmous and a Cherry Bakewell cupcake, which I shall have as a treat later.
A thought occurs to me: when people who are skint go to the Food Bank for provisions, why is there no soap, toothpaste, toilet paper !!! in the boxes.
Like, giving food is good an' all but the people are there because they're strapped for cash so probably can't afford to buy the above items either. Or washing powder, washing-up liquid.
Or maybe they have to ask for those things. Idk how it works.

Sorry, bit of an off topic ramble.
Firstly aren`t the yak milk chews expensive. ? Sid can get through the large one in a few days.
Secondly, we have a collection box in our store for the Food Bank and customers certainly do donate all sorts of toiletries, household products as above, plus pet food, towels , razors, all sorts of things, they are incredibly generous, but I do not know how the Food Bank then allot the items, or how.
Thirdly, my last purchase was a bag of Happy Hoof for the ponies. Special food as they are prone to laminitis.

Great day shopping. Bought a original fatburger and lumberjack poutine from Fatburger although sadly some meat fell out of the burger and on the ground while I was eating it on the way to the supermarket. Bought some caribbean drinks, zevia drinks, asian milk tea, pear jelly, 6x355ml sparkling orange and some dole jelly.
J enesis .... yes, they are but we've only got little tiddly dogs so they last for ages, and after reading things about other chew-treats I don't mind investing in them
