Over the years I have had different banks, I left ANZ it had high fee's, left Westpac because the service was very very slow, co-operative bank to fat to travel too. The bank I am with now I went to around 2015 and the service was fantastic, absolutely the best I have ever had, they are not this good now sadly. I still go there.
I don't have a favourite, I used to work for a major Bank which I'd never recommend banking with.
Most banks in the UK are not interested in their Domestic Banking arm, it doesn't generate enough income for them and us little guys are more of a nuisance than anything. They get their rocks off over the Corporate accounts.
These days you can't take more then 6 bags of counted change to any of them as they claim they don't have time to count it. All they do is weigh it anyway.
I have well over £1000 in small change ready for the bank all in bags and all ready counter. If I took it to my bank it would take me quite a few months to take 6 bags a day a time there.
If I take it all out the bags to a coin machine Morissons has it would cost £1 per £10 in change. So £1000 would cost me £100 to cash in. I would also need 2 big buckets.
Honestly, I really liked the bank I had in Michigan.
I don't know why I had this impression of banking just being a form of customer service and not sales. I know that's a slightly different topic but it was one that was horrifying to me.
I watched a documentary on Netflix recently and it was on Wells Fargo. I was getting so many flashbacks when they were talking about their quotas and trying to get people to sign up for a million things they didn't reeeaaally want.
It's amazing. It really reminded me of when I worked at a department store and had to try and convince EVERYONE to apply for a credit card.
Arrr! Only th' Devil an' I know th' where'bouts o' me treasure, an' th' one o' us who lives th' longes' should take i' all.
