Horror movies are probably my favourite genre. I like slasher horror but I'm not a big fan of possession movies. Even that old movie The Exorcist freaks me out. But I watch horror movies a lot.

I like found footage, give me some good ones ive only seen a few that i actually consider good.

(I dont like foreign films where i have to read subs.)

- The Gracefield incident.
- Grave encounters (THE FIRST ONE)
- Area 51 (Its pretty boring until the end.)
- The taking of Deborah Logan.
- As above so below.
- Alien Abduction (Kinda slow but turns out pretty good.)
OSRS - Filled with harassers sad...~

I write horror! My book that is most horror-centric is Canis Infernum , published under my pen name "Ken Ra"

As for other media I am rather picky with horror as I expect it to actually be scary as opposed to relying on jump scares. This is one of the reasons why H.P. Lovecraft is one of my favorite authors. Being said -

Games:

SOMA
Alien Isolation
Amnesia: Dark Descent
Amnesia: The Bunker
The Penumbra trilogy + Necrologue (fan-made sequel)
The Sinking City

Films:

Alien
Aliens
NOPE
Signs if you skip the ending
Mulholland Drive
A Color Out of Space

Love the original alien movie! They are creepy looking for sure.

^ I'm unreasonably picky when it comes to how I define movies as "horror". Most IMO are just slashers or jumpscare compilations. Alien is great horror because even though the characters are in a relatively unrealistic scenario it brings up concerns about the event of encountering ET life. The xenomorphs are not only deadly, but they aren't carbon-based life either ergo they're challenging to understand well enough to combat. The scenario most people fear about real life aliens is ultra-intelligent beings harvesting our planet dry but I think something like the xenomorph is more probable. Something from space being accidentally brought back home. It also includes the subject of AI and what we may encounter should synthetic humans devote themselves to an agenda which doesn't concern human lives.

Plus...the soundtrack was great. It only had one jumpscare which was appropriately placed, and the effects were realistic enough to live up to today's standard.

Yeah war of the worlds its honestly one of the scariest movies out there, just imagine that happening. The ending fell flat, same with signs, ending fell flat.

Thats a good point bro.

Horror is good when it has a story behind it. And I think A Nightmare on Elm Street series and Friday the 13th series both have a story behind them.

But that is just my opinion. Both series are cheesy film franchises imo but I like them.

Edit: And the 2 example's I gave you are just that, example's, like a lot of other stuff but I can't come up with atm.

I have seen so many horror movies over the last decade and some of them are really good.

I guess I like mainstream horror.

Lol just rewatched that movie like two days ago. Love that "archeological" horror mixed with lots of historic concepts and esoteric themes. I think it builds up very well throughout the story.

The moment just before the team founds the car on fire deep in the catacombs, when they noticed the weird firelight to the right, scared me for real. Music didn't help either :P

This is really scary to me (almost finished it)

It's not monsters..more of a realistic situation.

8/10 . Brief intro: They get stranded in the snow because the lift stopped moving...
