I'm starting a new thread because Malua made a comment in another thread and I didn't want to hijack someone else's thread by commenting to Malua's post.

I checked it out and was amazed at the information available. At this site, you can see if you have been hacked by email, phone number, password. I have 5 email addresses and discovered 3 of them had been hacked.
There's a list of businesses, gamesites (RuneScape wasn't listed), social medias (not just FaceBook), food delivery services, anti-virus providers and many more websites/services that have been compromised worldwide. These hackers gather personal information, credit card numbers, home addresses, birth dates, phone numbers, usernames and any other information that is gathered by a website when you make an online account. After millions of people have been listed, the list is sold to whoever needs that type of information.
In the gamesite list, there were 3 listed that I used to play. I knew about them because everyone one with an account was notified and strongly advised to change their passwords to the gamesites and email.
There's an article to read about using one password for multiple online accounts. I mentioned this to my roommate and his reply was, "Why would anyone want my information? I'm a nobody." Well so are all the billions of people whose information has been gathered and listed.
haveibeenpwned.com has a feature where you can get a random generated password for all of your accounts. They will notify you if any of your accounts have been hijacked. All of this is free of charge.
I highly suggest that you check this out. There are many 'Scapers who have complained about their account being hijacked and blaming it on Jagex. How about checking out your email address?
Side Note: One of my emails appeared on a site I don't remember going to.
