Have you ever put your foot in it?

I've just done that and put my foot right in it. I posted something as a joke type thing to some friends on Facebook only to learn 1 of them is sick and undergoing some medical needs.

It was meant as a bit of fun to cheer up anyone on a dull day but a few people posted back it was in bad taste. So I removed my comments. It wasn't in bad taste by the way. They said it was.

It's bad that people take offense at anything posted these days and you can no longer have any fun. I just wonder what the World is coming too when Fun is outlawed.

I have since sent my friend a Private message to apologise in person. He did see the post and he did laugh and it did cheer him up. But other people didn't see the fun side. I suppose no one has a sense of humor any more.

So the question is. Have you put your foot in it?

Also Tuffters.

If your f.b friends knew you like we know you, they would have knew that you would never post anything "in bad taste"

It's actually "bad taste" to accuse you of posting anything "in bad taste"

But you're a big guy and in the know so you are well aware of the usual f.b keyboard warriors lol, they are similar to here in forums but without any rules and are free to continue to be the big man/woman while hiding behind their screens and feeling bigger and better after every post they believe is making them look good and/or funny.

Much love

Scouse - For once in my life hopefully guiding the man who has guided me for many years <3

Cheers Scouse. Wise words from a wise friend as always.

You are right FB keyboard warriors are out in force and just out to cause drama. I thought about what I put and still say it was a fun post and they just made it into something it wasn't. It's their loss really.

I did make my friend laugh and thats was the goal of the post. Thats all that counts.

I'm starting to think FB is shit lol. Tired of being banned for nothing and yes I've been banned 5 times within the last 12 month for snowflakes reporting me. The posts would most certainally be allowed within these forums too.

Anyway I'm over it. Just had a bad time what caused the fuss when it was a joke.

I live on and learn. :P

I do sometimes but its only when I get drunk. Its embarrassing waking up the next day and apologising for being an idiot.

When I havent been drinking I'm the opposite. Its like a Jekyll and Hyde thing going on.

Ahh, yes - so many people are so very sensitive over so little it seems these days (my opinion based on my observations and experiences)... but I digress.

Many-a-time, Tuffty... many a time. I remember a moment some while back where I had made a comment on some thread in W&F that was along the lines of JMods not being anywhere to be seen and, of course, along comes a JMod (Lyon or Allstar... I think it was Allstar) to quote my post and said something like "Oh?"

My comment wasn't wrong (by comparison of days gone by), but they were sure to make sure it wasn't completely right either... so in went the foot. :P

Nah, I'm not into feet.

Here's the thing: someone is going to be offended by something no matter what. You're going to find something upsetting that someone else does, someone is going to be upset by something you do, and it's going to happen whether it was intended to happen or not.

But you also have to remember that being free to say whatever you want does not mean you have freedom from consequence, 'joke' or not. ;)

Calling something a joke doesn't make it funny. Humour is purely subjective.

An example would be that I find toddlers wiping out hilarious, but not everyone would agree unfortunately. :L

Been there many a time myself. My favorite was when I cracked a cancer joke to a group of fellow cancer survivors and some one who had never had, or had to go through what we went through took offense. Was packed away to FB jail for a week, over the joke. All that I said was one of the positive things about cancer, is it saves you money on shampoo and barbers.
