I was a bit baffled by this as I don't use Reddit, but a quick Goole search came up with this:

"There are a couple of known issues with karma but don't worry, your karma is safe! If your karma is jumping between a couple of different numbers, it's likely because award karma and post/comment karma are stored separately and one of them isn't included in that page load. We're working on getting them added together. If your karma is set to 0 when it shouldn't be, check the status because there might be site issues."
