I'm in a quandary, I could do with a mattress and in normal times I'd go to a furnishings store and lie on a few to see what suited me.... but that's not going to happen for some time yet.

I don't know whether I need a medium of firm mattress, all I know for sure is I don't want memory foam.

Anyone got any tips to help me choose?

Last time I tried out a mattress in a store, I fell asleep. I guess someone reported me, because the woman who works behind the counter said, "Are you OK? Do you need medical help?" I woke up and apologized. Was that a derp?

BTW it was a Serta firm.

I believe that pocketed springs are best and the more springs the better. Zoned springing is also good with more where you need more support. There are lots of brands but from my experience cheap mattresses don't last long.
If it was me, unless its urgent, I'd wait until 12th April when non essential shops in England are going to re-open...at least we hope they will. :P

Yep I guess it'd make sense to wait, just that I found a sale earlier... but these days it seems everyone is having a sale all the time :P

Thanks for the pocket springs tip, I'd been looking at those.
