Hey everybody ^_^

I don't often make threads, but when I do I prefer for them to be (hopefully) memorable and enjoyable. So today I wanted to ask you all...what are some of the smaller moments/situations/things in life that keep you going? Is there anything that inspires or motivates you to complete your daily activities?

Hopefully, we can share our minor victories and perhaps even learn from each others' gratefulness.

I'll get us started with a couple of examples...

Someone holds the door open for you
Your favorite song comes on the radio
An article of clothing you've wanted goes on sale

Feel free to contribute to this thread, as I look forward to hearing what you all have to offer ^_^

What keeps me going? Helping others in rl. My pathway through life has been a hellish rollercoaster ride. If it wasn't for the help of others I wouldn't have made it. Many of these people have no idea how much they have helped me and there is no way I can thank them. I pay it back by paying forward. I get personal gratification from knowing I have paid back some of the debt and seeing people move forward.

For me its the random acts of kindness that I often receive that I then try and carry forward myself!

A recent example was me getting my car stuck in an unploughed car park full of snow at a hiking spot. I thought I could make it in and then out again, but I misjudged the situation and tested the limits of my car which backfired haha.

Luckily a few awesome people came and lent a push to get me moving again :)

Then a few days after that, I found a person's credit card in the snow on a walk. Rather than just leaving it or even reporting it lost, thought I'd look up the name on FB (and since the card had a headshot on the back). Found the person and got in touch with them and dropped it off to her to which she said her faith in humanity had been restored after an already bad day.

So it's good, it's little things like these, that can make all the difference to a person's day :)

For me, while being an area manager for a well known retail outlet.

The little thing in life that makes me happy is not being phoned at 4am in the morning by random staff members "usually bullshitting" about a reason they can't come to work today because of a mystery 1 day illness.

Another is on the rare days that a random store manager does not phone me with a complaint about 1 of my staff not doing their job properly.

Other than that.....

New socks and undies make me happy =)

Much love

One day I was having a crazy morning. I gasped for the breath of life when I saw my alarm clock, I overslept till noon after a night of partying, was late for work, my car wouldn't start making me say words out loud inside my car that cannot be said here, and I almost burned down my own home when I forgot the turn off the toaster before my neighbor called me in traffic saying there was smoke coming out my kitchen window. My boss was also being a monster that day too. Honestly, it was like a mental time bomb was blowing off in my head because my boss called me to scream saying I would be fired over the phone if I was not in office in the next five minutes seconds before my eyes shifted directions and I saw this homeless family on the streets outside of Starbucks.

I hung up on my manager on purpose and went over this to family and gave them everything in my wallet then told them I was going to be right back so I could run to the store to buy vitamins and groceries for the family. They had three kids, one of whom was a baby so I really felt sorry for them :(

I know people pass by homeless people without blinking all the time but my heart went soft when I first saw them on the streets. I spent two hours out of my hectic day making sure they were okay by buying blankets and books for their children. Now anytime I see the needy, I always give them at least a dollar before walk away. I know our beautiful God will always make sure that family is happy whenever they are.

My dogs always make my day, every day - whether it's the pup doing ridiculously comedic stunts in pursuit of her ball or one of the others laying a gentle paw on my foot to let me know they're wanting a cuddle .... they never fail to make my heart soar.

I saw a few videos of people paying for other peoples groceries and often wondered what it would feel like. So the other day I tried it.

Was at my local supermarket shopping and an elderly woman was struggling to get her money out to pay for her shopping. So me being me stepped up and said " Let me get this for you " She just looked shocked and said " What " I just said I'd pay for your shopping and she said sure ok. Even the staff member behind the till looked at me funny. I just said my good deed for the day. I'll get it. So I did and then paid for my own shopping.

Now that lady was happy. It wasn't much but no one had ever done that for her. It also made me feel great inside. She said if it wasn't for covid she would have hugged me.

The staff member also said what a nice thing to do.

If I can help someone out everytime I go shopping I will as it's my good deed for the day.

If anyone is intested her shopping bill was only £6 something.
