Chalk me up for support.
I was going to post an idea in a similar vein, but this one's more fleshed out. I'll express the differences in the chance something useful can be drawn.
Bard skill - elite skill based on your ability to perform and tell stories, requiring 80 slay/dung, and ownership of the Helmet of Trials to best signify you have stories to make and tell.
Broken into three branches, singing (skills for groups), instrument playing (combat for groups) and oration (smaller buffs for self/debuffs for enemy).
Instruments further broken into four branches: brass (special), percussion (melee), winds (ranged), strings (magic)
An orator or singer can join with an instrument player of one or more types to form a band for enhanced effects
Skill is trained and reputation is earned as you perform for bars, shops, town squares, palaces and the like. NPCs and even players may tip you for your performance.
Also trained slowly through use. Eventually every in-game song unlocked grants a small amount of XP, signifying your travels (likely bottle-necked for a while as many players have over 1000 songs)
Ultimately as you raise your skill, you raise your charisma, making things like the ring of charos unnecessary or giving hints toward preferential answers when asked questions.. higher morale kingdoms or better xp for better stories from Juna, even improved usage of harmonic dust or the ability to attune your own crystal seeds.
