I started playing Runescape in 2001 with my main account Ruberto and quitted back in 2013.
7.5 years later I am back to spread the word and invite old friends to play RS3!
I have been hearing many many years that RS3 is dead and if you would like to play RS just play Old School Runescape (OSRS). Looking at the numbers then only 27% of the players play RS3 and over 70% who are online are playing OSRS.
So I thought what is going on.. why people do not like RS3? So I created a new account and chose Ironman mode because a lot of bad feedback is coming towards microtransactions and that you can buy gold and just use it to buy weapons and resources for skilling.
So last week I was just finishing up with the tutorial island and ended up in Burthorpe. All of a sudden I was thrown over with pop-ups, activity tracker, daily challenges, tasks, special abilities, a long list of new unfamiliar menus and I said to myself this is too much. I am too old for this
.. It felt like buying a Dell or Lenovo laptop or Samsung phone with a lot of preinstalled apps I would never use. Always better to do a clean install and start over.
That said I decided to read through every setting and try everything to clean up the interface. I removed abilities menus, activity tracker, challenges, achievement path, hero, power, adventures, etc from the menus. Turned on legacy combat mode added slayer kills left counter to the top and started playing.
And I loved it! Mining, Smithing, Fletching, and all other skills are much more fun and not so boring that I remembered. Playing as Ironman was even more fun. No Keys, no free cosmetics, exp lamps, and so on. Fewer pop-ups and more fun getting the stuff and leveling up.
I told to few of my friends that you should try it. It is cool and feels new and much more fun than doing League II in OSRS which will be deleted after few months.
So they created accounts and 20 minutes later wrote me that this is awful and OSRS is much better!
