Isn't this only for OSRS?

Nope! Jagex has confirmed that they intend to kill off the Duel Arena in RS3 early next year.

And might I just say, good riddance. Jagex has confirmed that the DA was directly linked to nearly 40% of the RWT bans handed out in RS3. That, combined with the DA being a hub of illicit activity, means that it was a cancer on this game that needed to be excised -- and it finally will be.

And at the end of the day, we haven't actually needed the DA since the ability to duel each other anywhere was added back to the game in 2016. Anyone who wants to duel for fun will still be able to, anywhere that they want.

What's up with all those random accounts holding snow parasols at duel arena? I'm glad it's being removed, better to just cut off staker addiction at the root instead of bandaid fixes. 50m staking cap will discourage players with gambling addictions for sure.

I think they shouldn’t remove it and instead make it an option for people it’s sad that everyone has to feel the blow of it going because some people can’t control their gambling addictions and Jagex can’t ban the actual scammers, poor update il be on this game considerably less

That "option" was responsible for over a third of RWT activity in RS3 alone. It wouldn't make sense to let it continue in any form, and Jagex has wisely decided that there's ample cause to remove it.

I'm sorry if that means you'll "be on the game considerably less", but it's the right decision for them to make. RuneScape will be much better off without it.

Exactly. To remove it entirely is "a bit exaggerated".

Not really. RS3 already has the ability to duel people for fun virtually everywhere via right-clicking, so keeping the DA open as a non-staking location would be a little redundant. You don't need a specific place to do it if you can already do it anywhere, so the DA would just be taking up space that could be used for something else (and, indeed, Jagex has announced that they've already come up with something to fill that space)

OSRS admittedly currently lacks that feature, but I imagine it wouldn't be hard to implement it there, too. (It was in Classic, after all) Failing that, I guess there's always the Free-for-All portal in Clan Wars?

You have a point, Vengeance Of.
Actually, I support the Duel Arena AND the staking part. The issue is not the place or the feature in themselves — it's the people. If someone exploits a feature, you don't remove the feature, but you act against who exploits it. Obviously, to remove the feature is easier and faster, but that does not resolve the problem. A certain attitude to the game is the REAL problem. The Duel Arena can be very fun, in both its versions: with and without staking. Once you join a stake duel, you know what it implies. It's the scamming that is wrong. So, I expext from Jagex they do their best and tackle the issue, not just to remove a place that has been in game since 2004. This attitude too, the Jagex's one, is a problem.
